08:10 EDTRTrucking, intermodal coverage resumed with a Market Weight at Wells Fargo
Wells Fargo expects truck load rates to rise, with momentum lasting through the next bid season. The firm says that brokers' gross margin pressure has subsided, and it has a positive outlook on them. Wells remains cautious on truckload carriers, however, due to wage pressures and difficulty growing fleets. It identifies JB Hun (JBHT), Landstar (LSTR), Ryder (R) and XPO Logistics (XPO) as its favorite names in the sector, and has Outperform ratings on all of those stocks.

16:18 EDTTROWT. Rowe urges Allergan to drop bid for Salix, has 'growing concern', FT says
T. Rowe Price (TROW), the third largest shareholder of Allergan (AGN), has urged the company to not partake in any acquisitions that would thwart Valeant's (VRX) hostile takeover plan, The Financial Times reports, citing senior business correspondent David Crow. Allergan is currently mulling the possibility of acquiring Salix Pharmaceuticals (SLXP), which may effectively squash Valeant's potential hostile takeover of Allergan. T. Rowe Price said in a statement, "Over the past several months, we have been watching with growing concern the corporate governance practices of the Allergan board. In our view, the issues to be voted on at the special meeting of shareholders on December 18 are of such importance that they impose a special duty on the board to refrain from approving any significant, irreversible commitments by the company between now and then unless shareholders are offered the opportunity to vote on them. We believe this should apply even in the event of all-cash acquisitions that do not ordinarily require a shareholder vote." Reference Link

07:57 EDTRRyder selected by Chrysler Mexico
Ryder (R) announced it has been selected by Chrysler Mexico to manage a cross dock operation at the Port of Altamira, feeding parts from an overseas supplier to Chrysler’s manufacturing assembly plant in Mexico. 08:00 EDTPGSpectrum Brands to acquire P&G's European pet food business
Procter & Gamble (PG) announced that Spectrum Brands (SPB) has agreed to buy IAMS and EUKANUBA brands in Europe for an undisclosed amount. In April, P&G announced the sale to Mars of 80% of its global Pet Care business, including North America and Latin America. Europe was not included in that deal with the exception of Russia and Turkey. Mars later agreed to buy an additional 10% of the business in additional markets including Japan, Australia and South Africa. With the Spectrum transaction, P&G now has closed deals or reached agreements to sell 100% of its Pet Care business. The deal will close in 2015, subject to regulatory approvals. The geographic regions included in the acquisition, which account for approximately 10% of P&G’s former pet care global sales, include 42 markets throughout Europe. The business has approximately $200M of annual sales and will provide Spectrum Brands’ United Pet Group division access to the $21B European dog and cat food market which is growing at an estimated 3%-5% annually. The acquisition has been approved by Spectrum Brands' board.
