07:05 EDTQCOM, RMBSQualcomm unit enters into license for CryptoManager platform from Rambus
Rambus (RMBS) announced that Qualcomm Global Trading Pte. Ltd., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (QCOM), has entered into a license for the CryptoManager security and feature management platform developed by the Cryptography Research division of Rambus. The CryptoManager solution will provide Qualcomm Incorporated and its subsidiaries with an advanced key provisioning hardware solution for their integrated circuit systems on a chip, as well as an Infrastructure Suite for security throughout the SoC manufacturing processes.

Jefferies expects Apple Pay (AAPL) to raise interest in mobile payments as well as security requirements for mobile payments in Android-based devices. The firm thinks adoption of Rambus' (RMBS) Crypto Manager hardware based security solution will accelerate in mobile payment platforms and raised its price target for shares to $14 from $13.50. Jefferies keeps a Hold rating on Rambus, but notes its incrementally more positive on the stock.

Companies are buying back their own shares at its fastest pace since the financial crisis to fuel a stock rally, reports the Wall Street Journal. According to Birinyi Associates, companies have bought back $338.3B of stock in 1H14, the most since 2007. Citing an analysis by Barclays, companies with the largest buyback programs by dollar value have outperformed the broader market by 20% since 2008. Reference Link
