| theflyonthewall.com: | FTC issues complaint to block Omnicare's acquisition of PharMerica | | The Federal Trade Commission announced last Friday that it issued a complaint to block Omnicare's (OCR) hostile acquisition of long-term care pharmacy provider PharMerica (PMC), alleging that the combination would harm competition and enable Omnicare to raise the price of drugs for Medicare Part D consumers and others. The FTC alleges that the combined company likely would be a "must have" for Medicare Part D prescription drug plans, which are responsible for providing subsidized prescription drug benefit coverage for most SNF residents and other Medicare beneficiaries. Omnicare responded by saying, "We strongly disagree with the FTC's decision to seek to block the proposed transaction." :theflyonthewall.com |
