According to the Business Standard, Posco's (PKX) Rs 54,000-crore project in Orissa may get started by January next year. "Orissa government is actively working to remove hurdles in the path of the Posco's proposed 12-million tonnes per annum project so that the company can have the groundbreaking ceremony in next 2-3 months, may be by January-end," Steel Secretary Pramod Kumar Rastogi told PTI. Steel demand worldwide is growing slower than forecast, affecting producer profits, and forcing investors to revise their 2012 outlook, reports Bloomberg. Steel usage will increase 4.5% in 2012, below the 5.4% forecast last fall by the World Steel Association, according to the median estimate of 14 steelmakers, analysts and traders surveyed by Bloomberg.
