Premier and the Hawaii Medical Service Association, or HMSA, have extended their partnership in a statewide initiative to improve healthcare quality and reduce costs for the people of Hawaii. HMSA, an independent licensee of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, launched the Advanced Hospital Care program in 2011. The program is the nation's first statewide collaboration between a health plan and hospitals to define and implement new standards of quality improvement. HMSA provides funding for Hawaii hospitals to use Premier analytics and advisory services to improve performance. Program results prompted HMSA to extend the Advanced Hospital Care program and its partnership with Premier through December 2016.
