| theflyonthewall.com: | Pfizer sinks after reporting Q4 earnings and guidance | | Pfizer (PFE) reported Q4 EPS 49c vs. consensus of 50c, and gave FY10 EPS guidance $2.10-$2.20 vs. a consensus $2.27. Pfizer's Q4 results were helped by accretion from the Wyeth acquisition, cost cutting and strong sales from Lyrica and Sutent. On its Q4 conference call, the CFO said, "2010 revenue and EPS guidance was negatively impacted by the recent unfavorable changes in foreign exchange. For example, based on exchange rates in late January, the strengthening of the U.S. dollar has decreased our adjusted diluted EPS guidance by about 6c." Also weighing on Pfizer's shares was a cut in 2012 profit and revenue forecasts, which coincides with the loss of the U.S. patent for Lipitor in November 2011. In early afternoon trading, shares of Pfizer were down 52c, or 2.8%, to 18.54. :theflyonthewall.com |
