theflyonthewall.com: Paccar surges after results beat Street expectations
Paccar (PCAR), which manufactures trucks and sells truck parts, reported Q4 EPS of 16c ex tax expense, compared with analysts' consensus estimate of 7c. Including the tax expense, Paccar's EPS was 13c. The company's revenue was higher than expected. "Paccar's excellent balance sheet and strong operating cash flow have enabled ongoing investments in capital projects such as new diesel engines, expanded vehicle ranges, annual factory efficiency improvement of 5-7% and contributed to earning the majority of the industry's quality awards," said Paccar Vice Chairman Tom Plimpton. ""The company's strong performance places Paccar in a leading position when the industry returns to a normal vehicle demand," Plimpton added. In mid-morning trading, Paccar gained $1.73, or 4.91%, to $36.96. Meanwhile, Navistar (NAV), which also builds trucks, rose $1.28, or 3.43%, to $38.63. :theflyonthewall.com
