North American Palladium is pleased to report on the progress of its production ramp up from the lower Offset Zone utilizing the new shaft infrastructure at its Lac des Iles palladium mine in northern Ontario. In January, underground production averaged over 3,100 tonnes per day, ahead of the company's operating guidance, which forecasted an average underground mining rate of approximately 3,000 tonnes per day for the first half of the year. The company estimates that payable palladium production in January totaled approximately 15,200 ounces, which was approximately 15% above internal forecasts and represented one of the best months in the last two years of operation. Production in January also benefited from higher underground grades which averaged approximately 4.90 grams per tonne palladium. The company has also started to benefit from its ongoing mill improvements, with January recoveries averaging around 84% from a blended concentrate mill head grade of approximately 3.35 grams per tonne. The company's plans to modify the design of the underground ore handling system are on track, which upon completion should increase the tonnage hoisted through the shaft and accordingly result in decreased mining costs.

North American Palladium updated its mineral reserve and resource estimates for its Lac des Iles mine property in northwestern Ontario. Total reserves are 20.4M tons at a grade of 2.1 g/t and total resources of 71.5M tons at a grade of 2.0 g/t, representing a combined 5.9M ounces of contained palladium. The company reports a significant increase in underground measured and indicated resource of 3.9M tons at a grade of 2.67 g/t palladium, or 413K ounces of contained palladium, representing an increase of 16%. The company reported a 101% increase in near surface reserve of 6.3M tons at a grade of 1.0 g/t palladium, or 197K ounces of contained palladium. Near surface resources of 9.8M tons at a grade of 1.28 g/t palladium, or 274K ounces of contained palladium, represent an increase of 23%. The net change to the LDI resource inventory in terms of contained palladium is an increase of 686K ounces, bringing the total measured and indicated resource at Lac des Iles to 71.5M tons having an average grade of 1.98 g/t Pd and containing 4.54M ounces of palladium.
