07:46 EDTPACGrupo Aeroportuario says Los Cabos airport operating non-commercial flights
Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, S.A.B. de C.V. informs that, due to Hurricane Odile, which moved through the Baja California coastal area on Sunday, September 14, the Los Cabos International Airport experienced damage to the building, including the detachment of the roof covering in Terminal 1 and the collapse of ceiling panels in Terminal 2. The runway, taxiways and aprons experienced damage that was able to be repaired in the very short term, which allowed air terminal flights to begin on September 16 for the transfer of provisions, medicine and water for those people affected in the area as well as for flights for the evacuation of tourists. The airport has the means necessary to carry out the cleanup work and the removal of debris, which has already begun, in order to reinitiate commercial operations as soon as possible. However, given the extent of damage in the terminal buildings, the reestablishment of all of the elements of passenger comfort at each of the buildings will require a few more days. GAP expects that the regularization of operations will take place within a time frame of approximately 10 days. Thereafter, operations will take place under the normal safety protocol typically followed at GAP’s airports, through dedication of the resources and efforts necessary to ensure that operations during the winter season will operate as usual. GAP will continue supporting the federal and state authorities in all that is necessary for operations and activities in the region to return to normal in the shortest time possible.

09:29 EDTPACGAP Airports reports total terminal passengers up 4.4% in August
Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico announced preliminary terminal passenger traffic figures for the month of August compared to traffic figures for August 2013. During August, total terminal passengers increased 4.4% compared to the same period of the previous year. Domestic passenger traffic increased 0.1%, while international passenger traffic increased 14.8% compared to August 2013. During the 2H14, passenger traffic in Tijuana benefitted from a significant increase in the number of frequencies and services offered by AeroMexico and Volaris, which generated a number of additional passengers to use this air terminal. Recently, both airlines reassigned a portion of their capacity to other destinations, and as a result, since July there has been a reduction in services as well as in the number of passengers that we expect will continue for the coming months. There has also been a significant increase this quarter in the company's advertising and marketing campaign, and that the company expects it will continue to take place for the next period as well. August traffic in these and other GAP airports is within projections.
