Shell (RDS.A, RDS.B)announced a frontier exploration discovery offshore Gabon, West Africa. The well Leopard-1 encountered a substantial gas column with around 200 metres net gas pay in a pre-salt reservoir. Leopard-1 is located around 145 kilometres off the Gabonese coast, west of Gamba. It was drilled in water 2,110 metres deep to a total vertical depth of 5,063 metres. Shell and partners are planning to undertake an appraisal programme to further determine the resource volumes. Leopard-1 was drilled in license BCD10, operated by Shell. Second partner in the venture is CNOOC (CEO). This frontier discovery follows recent deep water exploration successes in the heartlands for Shell Exploration in the Gulf of Mexico and Malaysia.

In its Q3 investor letter, Third Point says it established a "significant" position in eBay (EBAY). Dan Loeb's hedge fund also revealed it has established a significant direct investment in Alibaba (BABA) shares now that the company is public. Third Point also said it is now one of Amgen's (AMGN) largest shareholders. During the quarter, Third Point exited its position in Sony (SNE) and reduced or exited other positions, including AIG (AIG), Hertz (HTZ) and Softbank (SFTBF), the firm stated in its letter. PRICE ACTION: Following the disclosures in the Third Point letter, Amgen is up 4%, eBay is up 2.3% and Alibaba is up 3.8%, while Sony shares trading in New York are down nearly 1%.

Wells Fargo believes the removal of several of Time Warner's (TWX) Turner channels from DISH's (DISH) line-up will not be a "game changer" for either company. Wells notes the majority of Time Warner's affiliate growth comes from TNT and TBS networks, and it does not expect the channel loss to impact DISH's subscriber trends. The firm expects the networks to come back to DISH "eventually."

Sprint (S) announced that it will offer iPad Air 2 with Wi-Fi + Cellular (AAPL) and iPad mini 3 with Wi-Fi + Cellular later this week. iPad Air 2 is the first tablet from Apple to connect to Sprint Spark, an enhanced LTE service with the added capacity to greatly improve the performance of video and other bandwidth-intensive applications. iPad mini 3 will connect to Sprintís 4G LTE network. Customers can add iPad Air 2 or iPad mini 3 to their Sprint Family Share Pack for an access charge of $10 per month per line. Through December 2015, Sprint will waive the $10 monthly access charge on iPad Air 2 or iPad mini 3 added as new lines of service to any Sprint Family Share Pack 20GB or higher.

Deutsche Bank upgraded AIG to Buy citing valuation following the recent pullback in shares. Deutsche believes concerns that Starr International could succeed in its trial against the U.S. Government are overblown. It raised its price target for AIG shares to $60 from $59.
