Philips (PHG) is filing a patent infringement lawsuit against Nintendo (NTDOY) over the Wii remote, reports the Associated Press. Philips spokesman Bjorn Teuwsen said the companies had been in negotiations over a possible licensing agreement since 2011, but could not come to any agreement. Reference Link

China will end its restrictions on manufacturing and selling videogame consoles within the country, the Wall Street Journal reported Saturday, citing statements from China's Ministry of Culture. The report notes that foreign console makers such as Microsoft (MSFT), Sony (SNE), and Nintendo (NTDOY) were previously limited to operations in just the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, but will now have access to the entire country. A Sony spokesperson remarked, "This is great news for us." Reference Link

Royal Philips and Profound Medical Corp, a Toronto-based medical device company, announced that they have signed a joint development agreement to support Profound Medical’s proprietary TULSA technology designed to treat patients with prostate cancer on Philips’ Ingenia and Achieva 3T MRI systems. Profound Medical will soon release 12 month data from its 30 patient safety and feasibility study with the goal of obtaining a CE mark and commercialization of TULSA-PRO in Europe and Canada in 2016.
