Marathon Patent Group (MARA) announced that on April 17, the United States District Court Central District of California issued the claim construction order in the litigation involving its wholly-owned subsidiary Signal IP and American Honda Motor Co. (HMC), Nissan North America (NSANY), Porsche Cars of North America, Mazda Motor of America, Mercedes-Benz USA (DDAIF), BMW of North America, Subaru of America, Kia Motors America, Mitsubishi Motors North America, Volkswagen (VLKAY), and Jaguar Land Rover North America. A total of 36 claim terms from a total of seven patents were disputed between Signal IP and the defendants.

Following an airbag injury last month, Nissan (NSANY) is adding 45,000 vehicles to a previous recall of its Sentra model, reports Bloomberg, citing a company spokesperson. The recall now encompasses 2004 through 2006 models in U.S. states with high humidity levels. Bloomberg notes that the airbag may have been manufactured by Takata (TKTDY), a company involved in an ongoing investigation into its airbag quality. Reference Link

Charging electric vehicles quickly would place too much pressure on the electricity grid, Yoshikazu Tanaka, chief engineer of Toyota's hydrogen fuel-cell car Mirai, said, according to Reuters. If a car received enough electricity in 12 minutes to travel 310 miles, it would probably consume enough electricity to power 1,000 houses, the news service quoted Tanaka as saying.
