Registrations data illustrated that Europe's vehicle sales recovery may be gaining strength, but a confidential industry survey showed that the pickup is failing to stop a price war, reported Reuters. The Association of European Carmakers said that registrations rose 10.4% in March, rounding off an 8.1% gain for the first three months of the year. Publicly traded companies in the space include Fiat (FIATY), Ford (F), General Motors (GM), Honda (HMC), Nissan (NSANY), Toyota (TM), Hyundai (HYMLF), Peugeot (PEUGY) and Volkswagen (VLKAY). Volkswagen may abandon its practice of setting a rolling five-year investment budget in response to the emissions-cheating scandal, said Bloomberg, citing people close to the company's supervisory board. That board, when it meets Friday, will discuss investment cuts as well as possibly shortening its spending plan to three years or less for added flexibility amid the scandal fallout, the report said.
