Futures quiet in early trading Stock futures are trading near fair value following yesterday’s moderate sell-off. Trading volume was low yesterday, and it is expected to remain low today after the Northeast was hit by a massive snowstorm and as some investors extend their holiday week by remaining on the sidelines. Today investors will be watching ISM data for the New York region, along with the weekly energy inventories data and December vehicle sales reports from the automakers.
U.S. NY Fed "Empire State" Index Preview U.S. NY Fed "Empire State" Index Preview: The May Empire State Index is expected to rebound to 4.0 (median 4.0) after dropping to -1.2 in April. The April release included a decline in the forward looking new orders component to -6.0 from -2.4 which could pose downside risk to the release.
