Market drifts in positive territory Each of the major equity indices remains in positive territory, with the Nasdaq the biggest winner with a an advance of over 0.5%. Advancing stocks are ahead of declining stocks by 2:1 on the NYSE and nearly that much on the Nasdaq. Up volume is only slightly ahead of down volume on the NYSE, however, though the Nasdaq's up volume leads down volume by a significant margin. Crude oil prices are lower by about 0.2% and gold prices are down 0.4%. The Dow is up 58 points, the Nasdaq is up 17 points and the S&P is up 4 points.

Bank of England maintains bank rate at 0.5% The Bank of England at its meeting today voted to maintain bank rate at 0.5%. The Committee also voted to maintain the stock of purchased assets financed by the issuance of central bank reserves at 375B pounds.
