14:15 EDTFed's Beige Book said the economy is growing at a "modest to moderate pace."
Fed's Beige Book said the economy is growing at a "modest to moderate pace." Only Dallas reported "strong" growth. "Slight to moderate" gains were reported in consumer spending. Manufacturing expanded in most Districts. While some may be surprised by that, it's not really inconsistent with overall economic activity despite the fact that the ISM manufacturing index dropped to 49 (reflecting contraction). A "wide variety" of business services expanded while transportation traffic increased for producer, consumer, and trade goods. Hiring increased at a "measured pace." There was some difficulty in finding qualified workers. Wage pressures remained contained, while prices were level to "mildly" higher. The anecdotal report for the June 18, 19 FOMC was prepared by the Minneapolis Fed and was based on information collected on or before May 24.
