China's economy shows signs of expansion, WSJ reports China's economy is showing new signs of strength as a preliminary gauge of manufacturing activity jumped to a 14-month high this month, reports the Wall Street Journal. The flash reading of the HSBC China Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index showed manufacturing activity has expanded for a second straight month, to 50.9, compared with November's of 50.5.
