10:02 EDTMarket pares opening gains
Stock futures were higher throughout the pre-market trading session. The economic data released early in the morning was mixed, as housing starts were lower than expectations but building permits were higher than expected. Also, industrial production was lower than expected and capacity utilization was in-line. The futures reached their highs of the session following growth forecasts by the IMF, which raised its forecast for not only the U.S. but globally as well. The market opened higher but the averages are already off their opening highs about a half hour into trading. The Dow is up 92 points, the Nasdaq is up 26 points and the S&P is up 8 points.
