13:21 EDTHPQ, NOK, DELL, MSFT, SSNLF, AAPLNokia could heat up the race to produce a clear No. 2 to the iPad, Barrons says
Nokia (NOK) finally confirmed last week that it's designing and developing a rival tablet computer to the Apple (AAPL) iPad. This was speculated to happen ever since Nokia announced a partnership with Microsoft (MSFT) 13 months ago, along with a commitment to use Microsoft's operating system. Nokia's fate in tablets, and smartphones for that matter, rests squarely on the success of Microsoft's Windows. Indeed, other Microsoft partners - HTC, Hewlett-Packard (HPQ), Samsung (SSNLF), Dell (DELL) and Acer - will likely scramble to develop Windows 8 tablets. If the Nokia/Microsoft collaboration lives up to its promise, its products could jump to an early lead. Reference Link
