09:33 EDTNOCU.S. Air Force awards Northrop Grumman $81M
The U.S. Air Force has awarded Northrop Grumman $81M for the engineering and manufacturing development phase of the Air Operations Center Weapon System modernization program. This award is options exercised on the contract first announced in March 2012. The authority to proceed with the EMD phase follows the Department of Defense Milestone B approval in October. During the EMD phase, the program will complete detailed design, formal test and field the modernized system to geographic AOCs. Key activities in 2014 include completing the critical design review and continuing the series of warfighter analysis workshops to demonstrate the system to operational users and incorporate their feedback to optimize system usability.
