The Air Force Space Command's Space and Missile Systems Center has awarded Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NOC) Information Systems sector the Enhanced Polar System Control and Planning Segment contract. The base contract is for 18 months. The primary work will be done in Redondo Beach, Calif., with additional CAPS work performed in Orlando Fla., and Needham and Marlborough, Mass. The Northrop Grumman team includes General Dynamics (GD) C4 Systems, Inc.; Raytheon (RTN); Boecore, Inc.; Pollere, Inc.; Monterey Technologies, Inc.; Meadowgate Technologies, LLC; Perales Consulting Group, LLC; and Affigent, LLC.

13:16 EDTNOCNorthrop Grumman awarded $121M contract by NASA
Northrop Grumman Corporation has been awarded a $121M contract by NASA to build and deliver the third Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder for NOAA's Joint Polar Satellite System. Under the cost-plus-award-fee contract, Northrop Grumman will manufacture, test and deliver the ATMS instrument, support instrument integration on the JPSS-2 spacecraft, and provide launch and post-launch support. This ATMS instrument will be the third flight unit overall and is slated for launch on the second JPSS satellite in 2021. The second ATMS is scheduled for delivery in the spring of 2015 to fly aboard the JPSS-1 satellite, which is scheduled to launch in 2017. NASA is responsible for developing and building the JPSS instruments and spacecraft, and NOAA is responsible for operating the JPSS satellites and providing data to users around the globe.

Northrop Grumman has received an award of $116M to upgrade AN/AAQ-28 LITENING Advanced Targeting Systems for the U.S. military. Under the terms of the existing indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract, Northrop Grumman will provide upgrades and spares to the Air Force, Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard and Marine Corps. This award will bring all Air Force Block 1 pods to the G4 configuration, completing the service's transition to the latest version of the LITENING system.

Northrop Grumman has been awarded a contract from Naval Air Systems Command to deliver its next-generation mission computer for the Marine Corps' H-1 helicopter upgrade program. Under this contract, Northrop Grumman will provide FlightPro Gen III mission computers for the UH-1Y and AH‑1Z aircraft. These aircraft will be the first to benefit from the latest model in the FlightPro product line. Deliveries will be completed by October 2017.

The Government of Canada has awarded a C$287M contract to General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada for the provision and integration of an enhanced surveillance suite on to Canadian LAV III Upgrade vehicles, known as LAV 6.0. The upgraded surveillance system will include a 10-meter retractable mast, an Operator Control Station and a surveillance suite inclusive of radar, thermal/day and image intensification sights, laser range finder and GPS mounted on a stabilized platform. These enhancements will allow for superior detection ranges, on-the-move operation, integrated silent watch power management and the transmission of images through the communications system. Deliveries of LAV 6.0 vehicles equipped with the upgraded surveillance suite will commence in December 2016.

Raytheon and its partner team have been awarded a $13.5M task order modification on the Warfighter Field Operations Customer Support contract to add more Afghan pilots to the New Dawn training program. An additional 24 fixed-wing and four rotary-wing Afghan Air Force pilots will be trained. Based in the United Arab Emirates, the New Dawn program trains Afghan Air Force Officers to a level equivalent to a commercial pilot certification. Upon graduation, the pilots return to Afghanistan for service as aviators in that nation's Air Force.
