Hon Hai Precision (HNHPF) and Sharp (SHCAY) will extend investment negotiations by one year though they remain "deeply divided" over a potential deal for Hon Hai to take a 9.9% stake in Sharp, reports The Nikkei. Foxconn stated Saturday it will "explore investment and partnership opportunities" with Sharp, reports the Wall Street Journal, citing an interview with Foxconn chairman Terry Gou in Toyo Keizai. When asked for comment, Foxconn told the Journal that any investments in Sharp will be based on "whether Foxconn will have the right to participate in business management to realize the shared goal of achieving sustainable business growth."
