08:03 EDTVZ, NFLX, CVC, T, TWC, CMCSAPublic speak out on FCC 'net-neutrality' plan, WSJ says
The Federal Communications Commission's has received more than 677K comments so far from the public on its proposed 'net-neutrality' rules for how broadband providers can treat content traveling over their networks and a random sampling of the input suggests that the agency will have work to do to sell the plan, according to The Wall Street Journal. Companies that provide broadband Internet service include Comcast (CMCSA), AT&T (T), Verizon (VZ) Time Warner Cable (TWC), and Cablevision (CVC). Netflix (NFLX) sends a great deal of content over the Internet and strongly supports net neutrality. Reference Link

06:40 EDTVZVerizon downgraded to Underperform from Neutral at Macquarie
Macquarie downgraded Verizon to Underperform with a $45 price target to reflect a weaker 2016 and 2017 earnings outlook. The firm's analyst believes management has made a series of questionable strategic moves beginning with the Vodafone deal that will depress earnings. Recent advertising promotions are likely to pressure 2015 margins and ARPU and LTE capacity issues are expected in certain markets later in the year. Macquarie is surprised Verizon shares have held in around $50 with treasury yields rising and increasing Q2 promotions and does not believe this is sustainable ahead of a reset in consensus estimates.

06:22 EDTNFLXCitigroup sees internet stocks underperforming this summer
Citigroup analyst Mark May says that even with the recent share pullbacks, the broader internet index has still meaningfully outperformed broader indices year-to-date. The group is nearing peak valuations, which could lead to underperformance through the summer, May tells investors today in a research note. He recommends avoiding shares of Twitter (TWTR), LinkedIn (LNKD) and Zillow Group (Z), as the companies are going through business transitions. The analyst believes Amazon.com (AMZN), eBay (EBAY), Yelp (YELP), Netflix (NFLX), GrubHub (GRUB) and Facebook (FB) have company specific factors that should enable them to outperform the internet group over the near term.
