Nasdaq OMX Group's (NDAQ) proposal to offer algorithmic trading services that would compete against similar services offered by broker-dealers was denied by the SEC, reports Reuters. The SEC said Nasdaq didn't it wouldn't have a competitive advantage over broker-dealers offering similar products. Reference Link
