Noble Energy (NBL) announced that it has entered into a 36 month contract with a subsidiary of Atwood Oceanics (ATW) for a new build drillship to support its global new ventures efforts in deepwater exploration and development. The drillship Atwood Advantage is currently under construction by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. in South Korea. Delivery is anticipated in Q4 when the rate of $584,000 per day will be initiated. The dual BOP stacks, enhanced offline capabilities, drill depth ratings and the increased mobility will add flexibility to Noble Energy's global exploration program and the rig's advanced capabilities are sufficient to reach the deep oil target in the Eastern Mediterranean, which will be the first exploration prospect drilled, Noble said. |

Noble Energy disclosed in a regulatory filing that on May 1 the company entered into retention and confidentiality agreements with Ted Brown and Rodney Cook, each a senior VP and advisor to the CEO of the company. The agreements provide for the executive's employment with the company to continue until June 30, 2014 and in return the executive will receive continued vesting of unvested stock options and shares of restricted stock previously awarded to that executive. The original agreements that govern these equity awards provided that all unvested stock options and unvested shares of restricted stock would be forfeited by the executive upon termination of his employment. |
