After years of price competition and industry consolidation, analysts do not expect any new memory chip capacity to be introduced this year, which coupled with rising demand driven by smartphone growth is set to feed through into prices, Financial Times said. Samsung Electronics (SSNLF), SK Hynix and Micron (MU) now hold more than 90% of the D-Ram market and almost 100% of the Nand market is divided between those three and Intel (INTC), Toshiba (TOSBF) and SanDisk (SNDK), the report noted, citing analysts at Bernstein.
