Minerals Technologies guided to Q3 EPS of $1.05-$1.10, according to Bloomberg, citing comments made on the company's Q2 earnings conference call. The company stated in slides for the call that it expects stable North American and European steel markets in Q3, that it foresees continued weak paper demand in North America in Q3 and that is sees a seasonally strong quarter in its Construction Technologies segment but seasonal weakness in Q3 in the Energy Services segment.

On February 1, Minerals Technologies and Joseph Muscari, the company's Chairman and CEO, entered into a Sixth Amendment to Muscari's Employment Agreement dated November 27, 2006. Pursuant to the Sixth Amendment, the term of Muscari's employment has been increased from nine years to ten years, with the term ending no earlier than March 1, 2017.
