Mitsubishi UFJ announced that it has integrated The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ’s U.S. branch banking operations with Union Bank, and will operate the U.S. banking operations under the new name MUFG Union Bank. All of BTMU’s Americas banking activities, including the new unified U.S. organization, are overseen by a newly renamed holding company, MUFG Americas Holdings Corporation. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency is the primary regulator for MUFG Union Bank. MUFG Americas Holdings primary regulator is the Federal Reserve. Katsumi Hatao begins his term as CEO for the Americas of BTMU and President and CEO of MUFG Union Bank and MUFG Americas Holdings.

Citigroup's (C)’s Diners Club card is among some of the firm's resources in Japan that is attracting attention from lenders as the company looks for offers for its retail division in the country, according to Bloomberg, citing people with knowledge of the matter. The sources said that Sumitomo Mitsui (SMFG), Mizuho Financial Group (MFG), Mitsubishi UFJ (MTU), Sumitomo Mitsui Trust and Shinsei Bank are some of the banks that are poised to propose preliminary offers.
