12:30 EDTMNSTMonster Beverage reveals findings obtained in Fournier lawsuit
Monster Beverage revealed the findings of a group of physicians and a coroner that the company asked to examine the medical records of Anais Fournier, whose family filed a lawsuit blaming her death on the consumption of Monster Energy Drinks. After the lawsuit was filed, even though Monster had every confidence in the safety of its products, the company retained a group of physicians, including a coroner, to independently ascertain whether there was any basis for the allegations in the suit. "After an examination of Ms. Fournier's medical records, pathology report and autopsy report, the physicians stated conclusively that there is no medical, scientific or factual evidence to support the Maryland Medical Examiner's Report of 'caffeine toxicity' or that Ms. Fournier's consumption of two Monster Energy Drinks 24 hours apart contributed to, let alone was the cause of her untimely death," said Daniel Callahan, of Callahan & Blaine, one of Monster's lawyers.

16:30 EDTMNSTMonster Beverage, Coca-Cola expand distribution agreement
In August 2014, Monster Beverage (MNST) and Coca-Cola (KO) entered into definitive agreements for a long-term strategic partnership to accelerate growth for both companies in the global energy drink category. Under the agreements, Coca-Cola will acquire an approximate 16.7% ownership interest in Monster and will transfer ownership of its worldwide energy business to Monster, which, in turn, will transfer its non-energy business to Coca-Cola. Monster and Coca-Cola will amend their current distribution coordination agreements to expand distribution with Coca-Cola bottlers into additional territories. Upon closing, Coca-Cola will become Monster's preferred distribution partner globally, and Monster will become Coca-Cola exclusive energy play. The transaction, which is subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to close in Q2.
