MISTRAS Group (MG) announced the award of a multi-year contract to provide Fleet Radiography services to Southern Nuclear, the nuclear energy operating subsidiary of Southern Company (SO). The agreement emphasizes the experience of MISTRAS' extensive Computed Radiography and Digital Radiography inspection services portfolio. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, Balance of Plant, Flow Accelerated Corrosion programs, in-service and vendor location inspection services.

In a joint filing with the Illinois Commerce Commission, Southern Company (SO) and AGL Resources (GAS) requested regulatory approval of the companies' proposed merger. AGL Resources is the parent company of Nicor Gas, a regulated utility providing natural gas services to approximately 2.2M customers in northern and central Illinois. When completed, the combination of Southern Company and AGL Resources is expected to create the second-largest utility company in the U.S. by customer base, bringing together: 11 regulated electric and natural gas distribution companies providing service to approximately nine million customers; Operations of nearly 200,000 miles of electric transmission and distribution lines; More than 80,000 miles of gas pipelines; and Approximately 46,000 megawatts of electricity generating capacity. The companies expect to complete the transaction in the second half of 2016.

The company previously established its revenue guidance at $710M-$725M and adjusted EBITDA guidance at $72M-$78M. Mistras said: "The company's first quarter revenues exceeded its expectations. However, considering the prior year's strong second quarter comparison and the uncertain market conditions, the company is maintaining its revenue guidance at this time. The company's first quarter profits also exceeded its expectations, and it now expects that profit levels for the year will be at the higher end of this guidance range."
