12:39 EDTCOST, LOW, TGT, HDSome retailers sitting out rally after weak sales data
A number of retail stocks are underperforming the market after the ICSC-Goldman index of store sales rose 0.2% during the week of March 2, compared with the previous week. The index, which was released earlier today, rose 1.8% last week versus the same period a year earlier. That was the index's lowest year-over-year gain since early November, according to Bloomberg. Meanwhile, Redbook, another index of retail sales also released earlier today, increased 2.2% year-over-year last week, down from a 2.7% gain during the prior week. In early afternoon trading, Lowe's (LOW), Home Depot (HD), Target (TGT), and Costco (COST) were all little changed, despite the market's 1% advance.
