08:05 EDTLMT, ASTCLockheed Martin to acquire Astrotech Space Operations business
Lockheed Martin (LMT) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of the Astrotech Space Operations business of Astrotech Corporation (ASTC). The terms of the agreement are not material to Lockheed Martin. Subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions, including approval by the Astrotech Corporation shareholders, the transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2014. Upon closing, Astrotech Space Operations will be operated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin and managed by the corporation's Space Systems business area.

Lockheed Martin is being awarded a $122.22M modification to a previously awarded F-35 Lightning II Low Rate Initial Production, or LRIP, Lot VI cost-plus incentive fee contract for the procurement of support equipment for the F-35 aircraft such as sensor covers, tool sets, vacuum clamp sets, and heat gun assemblies. Work is expected to be completed in November 2016. Fiscal 2012 aircraft procurement funds in the amount of $122.22M will be obligated at time of award, all of which will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
