L-3 Communications announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement with Wärtsilä to sell its Marine Systems International, or L-3 MSI, business. The transaction is anticipated to be completed in the Q2 of FY15, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. The transaction, with a base purchase price of EUR285M, is subject to customary adjustments and an estimated reduction of EUR60 million for L-3 MSI employee pension-related liabilities to be assumed by Wärtsilä.

Boeing Chairman and Chief Executive Jim McNerney announced that the Boeing board of directors increased the company's authorization for its share repurchase plan to $12B and declared that the company's regular quarterly dividend will increase by 25% to 91c per share. The $12B repurchase authorization approved replaces the authorization approved in 2013 of which approximately $4.8B was remaining. Repurchase activity for 2014 is now complete at $6B and is expected to resume in January 2015. Boeing's new dividend represents an 88% increase over the past two years. The dividend declared is payable March 6, 2015, to shareholders of record as of February 13, 2015.

The U.S. Air Force has approved full rate production for Lockheed Martin's Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile – Extended Range, orJASSM-ER, which successfully completed U.S. Air Force Initial Operational Test and Evaluation flight testing in 2013. During IOT&E, the program had a 95% success rate, scoring 20 successes in 21 flights. Lots 11 and 12 of the JASSM contract awarded in December 2013 included 100 ER missiles.

The U.S. Navy awarded Lockheed Martin a $235M contract to continue building MK 41 Vertical Launch Systems with options that, if exercised, would increase the value to $356M. Under this contract which extends through 2022, Lockheed Martin will produce the launch control units, various electrical boxes and the mechanical structure, and perform final assembly and test. The company is also under contract to conduct repairs, distribute, store and manage spare parts for the MK 41 system for the U.S. Navy.

Eclipse Electronic Systems business employs approximately 90 people. The proposed acquisition is conditional upon receiving certain regulatory approvals. BAE Systems is being awarded an $115M undefinitized contract action as a modification to a previously awarded contract for USS Bataan FY15 dry-docking planned maintenance availability. A dry-docking planned maintenance availability includes the planning and execution of depot-level maintenance, alterations, and modifications that will update and improve the ship's military and technical capabilities. Work will be performed in Norfolk, Virginia, and is expected to be completed by November 2015.
