10:29 EDTLF, HAS, MATLeapFrog slides after analyst says new product disappointing
Shares of educational toymaker LeapFrog (LF) are sliding after an analyst at BMO Capital Markets said testing of the company's new LeapPad Ultra revealed several glitches. WHAT'S NEW: The new children's tablet, which follows up the successful LeapPad and LeapPad 2, has an improved design and features, but the number of bugs it includes was disappointing, BMO analyst Gerrick Johnson wrote in a note to investors. Expectations from both consumers and investors for the LeapPad Ultra has been high and poor reviews could hurt retail demand, the analyst contended. BMO lowered its price target on LeapFrog shares to $10 from $15 and cut its rating on the stock to Market Perform from Outperform. PRICE ACTION: In morning trading, LeapFrog fell over 7% to $8.90. OTHERS TO WATCH: Shares of larger toymakers Hasbro (HAS) and Mattel (MAT) were both up about 1%, in-line with the broader strength being seen in the major averages.
