The Coca-Cola Company announced a number of leadership appointments to support the Company’s new global operating structure. The changes complete the Company’s senior leadership roster in support of the previously announced news that Ahmet Bozer, Steve Cahillane and Irial Finan will lead the Company’s three operating businesses – Coca-Cola International, Coca-Cola Americas and Bottling Investments Group, respectively. The changes will be effective Jan. 1, 2013. Alexander “Sandy” Douglas Jr., currently President of Coca-Cola North America, will be appointed Global Chief Customer Officer. Katie Bayne, currently President, North America Sparkling Beverages, will become President, North America Brands. Brian Kelley, currently Chief Product Supply Officer for Coca-Cola Refreshments, will be appointed President and COO, Coca-Cola Refreshments. Jose Octavio “Pacho” Reyes, currently President of the Latin America Group, will be appointed Vice Chairman, The Coca-Cola Export Corporation. Brian Smith, currently President of the Mexico Business Unit, will be appointed President of the Latin America Group. Nathan Kalumbu, currently President of the Central, East and West Africa Business Unit, will be named President, Eurasia & Africa Group. Dominique Reiniche, currently President of the Europe Group, will be appointed Chairman, Europe Group. | |

The American Medical Association, or AMA, announced that it voted during its Annual Meeting to adopt several new policies on emerging issues in public health and science. Among the policies adopted was support for a ban of the marketing of high stimulant/caffeine drinks to adolescents under the age of 18. Shares of bottling company beverage distributor Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) are sinking after the company indicated this morning that its operating conditions have been more challenging than expected. WHAT'S NEW: Coca-Cola Enterprises stated that it has faced several challenges in 2013, including macroeconomic weakness, poor weather, strong competition in the U.K., and a tax increase in France. Some of the challenges have been more persistent than expected, and they have impacted the outlook for the company's second quarter results, Coca-Cola Enterprises added. The company said it expects some of these challenges to diminish later in the year. TODAY'S PRICE ACTION: In early trading, Coca-Cola Enterprises fell $1.05, or 2.8%, to $36.10. It is unclear if SodaStream's (SODA) talks with PepsiCo (PEP) and Coca-Cola (KO) are about an acquisition or strategic cooperation, according to Globes.
