11:10 EDTJBLUJetBlue, Etihad Airways confirm codeshare plans
JetBlue Airways and Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, announced plans to begin codeshare operations. The agreement, which is subject to government approval, will see Etihad Airways place its "EY" code on JetBlue-operated flights, initially facilitating connections between the two airlines at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport and Washington's Dulles International Airport. In the first stage of the partnership, Etihad Airways will codeshare on 40 JetBlue routes within the US. Further codeshare services are planned on JetBlue flights once Etihad Airways commences daily flights to Los Angeles from June.

JetBlue announced the launch of JetBlue Technology Ventures, a wholly owned subsidiary that will invest in, incubate and partner with early stage startups at the intersection of technology, travel and hospitality. As the first corporate venture capital subsidiary in Silicon Valley backed by a U.S. airline, JetBlue Technology Ventures will operate from the GSVlabs campus in the heart of Silicon Valley. By partnering with incubators, venture capital firms, universities and other organizations inside and outside Silicon Valley, JetBlue Technology Ventures will build relationships with a range of startups across the travel and hospitality spectrum. The initiative will serve as a launch pad for innovations that improve customer and crewmember experiences, increase the airline's operational efficiency and expand the JetBlue brand to new markets. Bonny Simi will serve as president of the subsidiary, reporting to Eash Sundaram, executive vice president and chief information officer of JetBlue.

06:38 EDTJBLUJetBlue reports January traffic up 11.7% year-over-year
JetBlue reported preliminary traffic for January increased 11.7% from January 2015, on a capacity increase of 10.8%. Load factor for January 2016 was 82.6%, up 0.7 points from January 2015. JetBlue's preliminary completion factor was 96.1% and its on-time performance was 69.4%. JetBlue's preliminary RASM for the month of January decreased approximately 3.5% year over year, which includes a positive impact of about two points from winter storm Jonas. JetBlue now expects year over year available seat mile growth in Q1 of 13%-15%, down from prior guidance of 14%-165 due to winter storms.
