10:41 EDTJBLU, DAL, AAL, LUV, UALSouthwest rises after firm boosts rating on shares
Shares of discount airlines Southwest (LUV) are rising after research firm Argus upgraded the stock to Buy from Hold in a note to investors earlier today. WHAT'S NEW: Southwest should benefit from a number of positive catalysts, including favorable economic conditions, positive fuel price trends, and increased revenue from "ancillary" sources, such as increased fees and sale of boarding positions, Argus contended. Also likely to boost the airlines are fleet upgrades and the launch of international flights, the firm believes. Argus hiked its 2014 earnings per share estimate for the company to $1.50 from $1.24. The firm set a $28 price target on the shares. OTHERS TO WATCH: Other publicly traded include American Airlines (AAL), Delta Air Lines (DAL), JetBlue (JBLU), Southwest (LUV) and United Continental (UAL). PRICE ACTION: In mid-morning trading, Southwest advanced 33c, or 1.5%, to $22.90.
