Intevac Photonics, a subsidiary of Intevac, announced it has received a multi-year award from the U.S. Government in the amount of $7M for the development of a four mega-pixel, low light level sensor and camera. This sensor is based on Intevac’s patented EBAPS design, which utilizes CMOS technology to produce digital imaging sensors for extreme low light level detection. Intevac announced orders for eight 200 Lean magnetic disk sputtering systems, scheduled for delivery in the second and third quarters of 2010. "We are pleased to announce these orders from two major hard drive manufacturers, representing both legacy tool replacements and incremental capacity," commented Kevin Fairbairn, president and chief executive of Intevac.
