08:31 EDTITIIteris awarded $1.4M project from OCTA
Iteris was awarded a $1.4M contract by the Orange County Transportation Authority to provide traffic signal improvements. The project is part of the renewed Measure M Regional Traffic Signal Synchronization Program, which was approved by voters in 2006 for a 30-year extension. Under this contract, Iteris will update and synchronize traffic signals along Newport Boulevard in Orange County, California. Newport Boulevard is a major arterial to many tourist attractions in the area, including the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa and the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach. Iteris will also construct new underground fiber-optic cables for the roadway and strategically deploy traffic cameras at major intersections, allowing the cities to proactively monitor traffic conditions in real-time. This project with OCTA is expected to commence immediately.

08:33 EDTITIIteris announces patent for precision farming advisor
Iteris has received a patent for technology related to assessing the impact of weather on crop harvest operations in precision agriculture. The U.S. Patent Office issued Iteris U.S. Patent Number 9,009,087 for modeling the impact of time-varying weather conditions on post-harvest crop drying techniques. The patent addresses the technology in Iteris’ ClearAg offerings for harvest operations in precision agriculture. Specifically, the patent teaches a system and method of applying real-time, field-level weather simulation to identify the optimal time to harvest crops, based on predicted weather and soil conditions and crop moisture levels. The ClearAg system implements multiple agriculture models to generate a series of context-based, harvest advisory outputs for supporting farm operations management.
