Intuitive Surgical disclosed that on September 14, an article was originally published in the Modesto Bee entitled "More Surgeries at Modesto Hospitals Being Done via Remote Control." That article contained information about the estimated number of single incision surgeries that have been performed since January, 2012 and cited Intuitive Surgical as the source of information. Intuitive Surgical said, "This was an unauthorized disclosure by a field employee in violation of Company policy. The Company does not intend to update this information in the future." JPMorgan says none of the 25 urologic and gynecologic da Vinci surgeons it surveyed were planning to postpone procedures and send instruments back to Intuitive Surgical following the Urgent Medical Device Notification that the company sent out on May 8. JPMorgan said the surgeons, who use the -09 or -10 Monopolar Curved Scissors, said they will continue to use the instruments in a cautious manner. The firm keeps an Overweight rating on shares of Intuitive Surgical with a $625 price target.
