AMD (AMD) has hired a consulting firm to help it review a potential split or spinoff, Reuters reported late Friday, citing three people familiar with the matter. Reuters notes that AMD may be seeking to better compete with Intel (INTC), and sources said one option being considered is to separate AMD's server business from its graphics and licensing arm. A South Korean court said it will rule by July 1 on U.S. hedge fund Elliottís request to block a Samsung C&T Corp, a unit of Samsung, shareholder vote on an $8B buyout offer from Cheil Industries, Reuters reports. Elliott told the court that Cheilís offer was built to pave the way for a leadership succession in the Samsung conglomerate and did not serve the best interests of their shareholders, the report says. Samsung released the following statement on Samsung Tomorrow: "Samsung takes all security threats very seriously. There have been reports that there is vulnerability when keyboard updates are carried out on Galaxy devices. We are aware of this issue and are committed to providing the latest in security on all of our devices. So the likelihood of making a successful attack, exploiting this vulnerability is low. There have been no reported customer cases of Galaxy devices being compromised through these keyboard updates. But as the reports indicate, the risk does exist and Samsung will roll out a security policy update in the coming days." Reference Link
