11:31 EDTINTC, SPLSIntel names Steve Fund as New Chief Marketing Officer
Intel (INTC) announced it has named Steven Fund, a senior industry executive with extensive brand and marketing experience managing and building some of the world's most recognizable brands, to the post of corporate vice president and Chief Marketing Officer reporting directly to Intel CEO Brian Krzanich. Fund comes to Intel from Staples (SPLS), where he was senior vice president of global marketing and member of the company’s senior leadership team. Staples is the world’s largest office products company.

Intel is looking to promote x86 architecture to China chip designers and may enter a partnership with Spreadtrum, reports DigiTimes Research. Integrated Device Technology (IDTI) announced earlier at the Intel Developer Forum that it is working closely with Intel (INTC) on the development of wireless charging solutions to accelerate the delivery and adoption of the technology. The two companies, both board members of the Alliance for Wireless Power, will define, design and manufacture solutions that comply with the A4WP magnetic resonance standard. The new technology will offer the ability to charge both lower and higher power devices, from wearables and phones to tablets and PCs. The companies expect to have their technology in products in 2015, IDT stated.
