10:05 EDTHPQ, INTC, MSFTAnalyst upbeat about Intel revenue outlook
Intel (INTC) should report fourth quarter revenue at the high end of its guidance range, Maxim Group analyst Ashok Kumar wrote in a note to investors. WHAT'S NEW: Stronger than expected shipments and production of PCs, along with strong demand for Intel's products from data centers, should enable the chip maker's fourth quarter revenue to reach the high end of its guidance range, Kumar wrote in a note to investors earlier today. The company had estimated that its revenue would be $13.2B-$14.2B in the fourth quarter, representing a range of a 2% decline to a 5% increase, versus the third quarter. Increases in PC demand by companies, as well as stabilizing consumer demand in the U.S. and Europe, have improved the outlook of the overall PC market, the analyst explained. In the near-term Intel should report results above analysts' expectations, Kumar predicted. He kept a $29 price target and Buy rating on the stock. OTHERS TO WATCH: Other companies with exposure to the PC market include Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) and Microsoft (MSFT). PRICE ACTION: In early trading, Intel gained 17c, or 0.7%, to $26.03.
