Intel (INTC) has incredible pricing power in server chips, with Mercury Research estimating that the average price of Intel's chips for servers rose 47% from the first quarter of 2007 to this latest quarter, reported The Wall Street Journal. Intel says it hasn't raised server-chip prices and that the move higher reflects customer's opting for higher-end models, but the situation is prompting companies including Google (GOOG) and Facebook (FB) to explore competing technologies, said the report.
