ChipMOS announced that its majority-owned subsidiary, ChipMOS Tecnologies Inc., has signed a purchase agreement to acquire 19% of JMC Electric Corporation, which is 100% owned by Chang Wah Electromaterial. The non-material, all cash transaction is expected to close by the end of August. JMC is a leading provider of flexible organic substrate for LCD driver semiconductors, known as chip-on-film tape, with manufacturing technology that originated from Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd., Japan. JMC currently has capacity of 36M pieces per month for COF tape, with plans to expand capacity to 50M pieces per month in 2015. Based in the Nan-Tzu Export Processing Zone, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, JMC's operation is approximately 45 kilometers from ChipMOS' Tainan fab in Southern Taiwan.

ChipMOS announced that two of its subsidiaries, ChipMOS Taiwan and ThaiLin Semiconductor completed their merger on June 17. ChipMOS Taiwan will continue as the surviving merged entity and will remain listed on the TWSE trading under its current stock ticker "8150". The merged entity is now a 58% owned subsidiary of ChipMOS Bermuda.
