06:05 EDTDIS, IBM, CAT, KO, PEPCompanies, cities sell more bonds as investors look to hedge, WSJ reports
Investors are facing off against companies and cities in the booming market for floating-rate bonds, taking opposing bets on when and how much the Fed will allow low interest rates to rise, reports the Wall Street Journal. The securities have become more popular as fears grow that the Fed will reverse its policy of monetary stimulus and low rates. Sales of the notes accounted for 9% of U.S. corporate-bond issuance last month, compared with 2% for all of 2012, according to data provider Dealogic. Companies have sold $12.7B of this debt year to date, marking the busiest start ever based on Dealogic's records, which go back to 1995. The figures don't include debt sales by banks and other financial firms. Reference Link
