Intelsat S.A. (I) announced at Satellite 2014 in Washington D.C. that it has entered into a new agreement with Airbus Defense & Space (EADS) bridging maritime VSAT services to Intelsatís High Throughput Satellite EpicNG platform. The new agreement will provide global high throughput satcom services with secure access to Intelsatís global Ku-band satellite capacity and terrestrially managed network, IntelsatOneSM. As of March, Airbus Defense and Space will extend the usage of these new solutions in its services portfolio.

Airbus CEO Fabrice Bregier expects a newer model of the A380 won't be available until after 2022, reports Bloomberg. At a Wings Club luncheon in New York, Bregier said some carriers don't love the A380, adding that the "problem is to justify that such a big aircraft has a market. Later on, there will be an A380neo, supported by Emirates and a few other customers, but we need a business case." Reference Link

Intelsat announced that Next Step, a multi-channel operator and distributor, is leveraging Intelsat's satellite solutions on Horizons 2 at 85degrees E to launch a new Free-to-Air DTH platform in Thailand. Under its multi-year agreement with Intelsat, Next Step is utilizing Ku-band capacity on Horizons 2 to diversify its business offerings.
