Hyundai is recalling certain model year 2015 Sonata vehicles manufactured April 25 through June 16. Due to a manufacturing error, one or both of the front brake calipers may fracture. If a brake caliper fractures, brake effectiveness would be reduced, lengthening to distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Hyundai contacted the affected owners on June 19 and instructed them not to drive their vehicles. Hyundai dealers will replace the affected brake calipers, free of charge. Reference Link

Volkswagen's (VLKAY) premium brand Audi (AUDVF) said it plans to reduce spare-part costs in China as worldwide carmakers rush to amend their pricing goals after the National Development and Reform Commission in China started investigating the vehicle industry, according to Reuters, citing comments in an emailed statement from Audi. The NDRC is looking into the industry amid domestic media allegations that foreign car companies, using a monopolistic market position, are charging Chinese clients too much on products and extra parts. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is looking into whether an electrical issue could potentially knock out the air bags on some older Hyundai Sonata models and says that it has received nearly 83 complaints about the defect, reported the Associated Press. The investigation pertains to 394,000 midsize vehicles from the 2006 through 2008 model years. Reference Link
