On its Q3 conference call, Helmerich & Payne (HP) executives stated they sees Q1 of 2010 to be one of transition for its international segment. To date the last of the company's 11 rigs in Venezuela became idle, and two additional new built FlexRigs commenced, in Argentina and the startup of operations in Mexico ramped up to a total of six active rigs. The company expects quarterly activity or revenue days for the segment to sequentially increase by 15%-20% from Q4 to Q1. The company also stated it has been encouraged by several trends its seeing in the market since its Q3 call. Helmerich & Payne stated its more optimistic going forward and, its discussions with customers may signal an ongoing improvement. Also, the spot market is developing again in the US and the company is actively bidding on projects. :theflyonthewall.com
