12:28 EDTHOGEarnings Preview: Harley-Davidson pulls back ahead of Q4 earnings
Harley-Davidson (HOG) is scheduled to report Q4 before the market open on Tuesday, January 29, with a conference call scheduled for 9:00 am ET. Harley-Davidson is a motorcycle manufacturer that produces heavyweight motorcycles and a complete line of motorcycle parts, accessories and general merchandise... EXPECTATIONS: Analysts are looking for EPS of 32c on revenue of $976.71M, according to First Call. The consensus range for EPS is 25c-42c on revenue of $911.72M-$1.01B... LAST QUARTER: Harley-Davidson reported Q3 EPS of 59c against estimates for 58c on revenue of $1.09B against estimates for $1.12B. The company said it planned to ship 245,000-250,000 motorcycles in 2012 and 44,500-49,500 motorcycles in Q4, consistent with previously announced plans to lower shipments in Q4 related to the implementation of surge production at York in 1H13. On its Q3 earnings conference call, Harley said it was "largely finished" with manufacturing restructuring. The company also forecast downward pressure on gross margins over the next few quarters as a result of the devaluation it is experiencing in most key currencies. Harley said it expected retail credit losses to increase over time... STREET RESEARCH: Citigroup said its Harley-Davidson dealer channel checks indicate the company's Q4 U.S. retail sales rose 6%-8%. Citi said dealer inventories likely increased slightly given better availability. RBC Capital believes that Harley-Davidson's retail sales are likely beating Street expectations. However, the firm added that the better than expected sales likely won't "move the needle" because Q4 is a seasonally small quarter... PRICE ACTION: Over the last three months, Harley-Davidson shares have advanced over 15%. Year-to-date, shares are up over 9%. Today, however, shares are down over 1%.

13:49 EDTHOGHarley-Davidson recalls 2015 XG500, XG750 motorcycles
Harley-Davidson is recalling certain model year 2015 XG500 and XG750 motorcycles manufactured June 11 to August 14. The fuel tank filler neck may be insufficiently flat, preventing the fuel cap from sealing properly. If the fuel cap doesn't properly seal, fuel may leak, increasing the risk of a vehicle fire. Harley-Davidson will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the motorcycle and test to see if fuel can leak from under the fuel cap. Any motorcycle that leaks fuel from under the fuel cap will have its gas tanked replaced, free of charge. The recall began in late September. Reference Link
